Marilyn Monroe’s Deep Love For Nature and Animals

"Marilyn saw a gardener who had just cut the grass in his backyard. Some flowers lay on the ground, lifeless. When she saw them, she screamed like she was injured and she ran in tears towards them, picking them up from the ground like she was trying to bring them back to life."

Marilyn Monroe was one of the greatest Hollywood stars ever existed, still imitated by millions of people all around the world.

While everyone knows about her glamourous side, her hyper-sensitive side was often underrated. She particularly loved nature and animals above all.

As Arthur Miller told once, one day he was taking a walk with his wife, Marilyn, around his Roxbury mansion. When they started coming back home, Marilyn saw a gardener who had just cut the grass in his backyard. Some flowers lay on the ground, lifeless. When she saw them, she screamed like she was injured and she ran in tears towards them, picking them up from the ground like she was trying to bring them back to life.

It was a very moving moment, Miller recalled.

Marilyn also loved animals, with all her heart.

She owned lots of dogs during her life, big and small. One of them, Maf, was a gift by Frank Sinatra, one of Marilyn’s closest friends.

She once said: “Dogs never bite me. Just humans”. And she added: “I love animals. When you need to talk, they never tell you to shut up”.

Like writer Edward Wagenknecht said, “She was pure of heart. She was free of guile. She never understood either the adoration or the antagonism which she awakened.”
